WTPA kicked off its first fundraiser and the kids are having a POPPIN’ time with it! With so many different prizes students can win, we can’t wait to see who the highest seller will be!

2023-2024 Open Enrollment is active and our staff
has been busy visiting daycares with K for a day! So
much in fact, that the snow couldn’t stop this event
from happening!! Our WTPA staff loved working
with Learning Ladder Child Care & Development
Center, LLC. The kids were awesome and we can’t
wait to see them again in the fall!!!

Our second quarter Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll students had visitors from the Walleye Hockey Team this past week! Although not everyone was able to score on spike, they did receive some pretty nice jerseys out of it!

The first week of March was Read Across America Week and WTPA planned different activities each day to get our kiddos active in reading throughout the whole week.
Monday: Emoji Pictionary: Teachers spent time in the
morning with their kiddos figuring out the names of different books.
Tuesday: No School
Wednesday: Teachers read to another class
Thursday: Read with a buddy:
8th grade read with 4th grade,
7th grade read with 2nd and
3rd grade, 6th grade read with
1st grade, and 5th grade read with kindergarten.
Friday: Mystery Readers:
Throughout the day we had staff members read a story
over the P.A. and classes had to guess who the mystery reader was.

Benefits of Sports in Schools

Did you know that less than one-quarter (24%) of children 6 to 17 years of age participate in 60 minutes of physical activity every day? That means most children aren’t getting the exercise they need to prevent serious health issues like heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. And they’re missing out on the academic benefits too, since exercise is linked to better focus, memory, and classroom performance.

The CDC recommends 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical exercise a day for school-aged children. When kids are active at school, they are healthier, happier, and more successful in school. Here are a few of the benefits of sports and physical education in schools:

  • Improved attention
  • Better mood and memory
  • Lower risk of depression
  • More time on task
  • Fewer absences
  • Better behavior
  • Better bone & heart health
  • Healthier weight

Source: CDC Healthy Schools

Our experienced school leaders strongly believe in these benefits and implement them throughout the school day.
